A Corpus Christi woman who fled the country with her two kids was arrested Wednesday in Mexico, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice.

Jada-Gregg-Warren

Jada Gregg Warren, 32, was arrested on charges she kidnapped her children from their foster home after losing parental rights November 2014.

Warren lost custody to her children after a federal conviction of drug trafficking and she was sentenced to serving a 36-month term of supervised release.

A criminal complaint states Warren took the children from their foster home Aug. 19 or Aug. 20.

The car she used had a tracking device that indicated the vehicle was in Corpus Christi on Aug. 18, but in Mexico two days later.

Warren made her initial appearance in the border town of Eagle Pass on Monday and is expected to be transferred to the federal court in Corpus Christi.

The Texas Department of Public Safety issued as Amber Alert in August after the 5-year-old boy and 3-year-old girl were taken. The children were found safe and are being returned to the care of Child Protective Services, the news release states.
