Al-Qaeda leader calls for lone wolf attacks on West

November 3, 2015

The Al-Qaeda leader hailed the past month’s attacks by Palestinians against Israelis in Jerusalem and elsewhere in Israel and the West Bank.

Ayman al-Zawahiri

Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri has called for lone wolf attacks against Western countries, in particular America, and praised recent Palestinian attacks against Israelis.

Zawahiri spoke in a video released on Twitter and published and translated on Monday by US-based SITE, which monitors violent extremist websites.

SITE noted that the video was broadcast on Twitter on Sunday, rather than on extremist websites as is usually the case.

“The first matter is striking the West and specifically America in its own home, and attacking their interests that are spread everywhere,” Zawahiri said, according to SITE.

“The supporters of Israel must pay with their blood and their economy.”

As examples of lone wolf attacks, he cited the 2013 Boston Marathon bombers Tamerlan and Dzokhar Tsarnaev. Their attack with pressure cooker bombs killed three people and wounded 264.

The Al-Qaeda leader hailed the past month’s attacks by Palestinians against Israelis in Jerusalem and elsewhere in Israel and the West Bank.

He also repeated an appeal first launched in September for jihadists to unite from Turkey to North Africa, despite his rejection of the caliphate proclaimed by the Islamic State group, which controls large swathes of territory in Iraq and Syria.

A US-led coalition of countries has been bombing IS positions since August 2004.

Mom travels to Middle East to search for her allegedly abducted children

October 14, 2015

Source: calgaryherald.com

‘I don’t know if they’re dead or alive:’

A Canadian mother whose four children have been missing for nearly two months has returned from northern Iraq where she unsuccessfully searched for her young kids after confirming they flew into the volatile region on Aug. 15.

Rojevahn Azer and her mom Alison

Former Calgarian Alison Azer’s children — girls Sharvahn, 11, and Rojevahn, 9, and boys Dersim, 7, and three-year-old Meitan — were allegedly abducted in August by her ex-husband, Dr. Saren Azer.

“It’s a nightmare,” a distraught Alison Azer, who resides in B.C. but lived mainly in Calgary from 2004 to 2012, said on Monday.

“I woke up this morning and I just said I don’t know how much longer I can do this. I feel in such despair.”

Policing agency INTERPOL lists the four children as missing on its website and a Canada-wide warrant for the children’s Kurdish Canadian father, a well-known doctor who also goes by Salahaddin Mahmudi-Azer, was issued on Aug. 24.

The Azer children were legally allowed to go on a trip to France and Germany with their father in early August but alarm bells were raised when contact with the group ceased.

Dersim, Rojevahn and Sharvahn Azer

The children were scheduled to return home to B.C.’s Comox Valley on Aug. 22 and begin a new school year — the girls were already talking about what they would wear on their first days of Grade 6 and Grade 4, and the boys were set to enter Grade 2 and preschool.

Instead, a policeman came to Azer’s door at 4:30 a.m. on Aug. 21 and told her RCMP believed her former husband had abducted their children.

A court order requiring that the children be returned immediately to their mother was issued that day, and three days later RCMP issued an arrest warrant for the doctor, in relation to charges of Abduction in Contravention of a Custody Order.

The weeks since then have been a blur for Azer as the self-described soccer mom searches in vain for her children, who she last saw on Aug. 4 and last spoke to during a frantic telephone call when they were in Germany on Aug. 13.

“I feel so alone without my children. They’re my entire life,” she said.

Rather than celebrating her birthday at the end of September surrounded by her four children, Azer said her daughters’ elementary-aged friends stopped by her house, sang to her and brought her flowers, cards and drawings.

Over the last two months, the devastated mother has travelled to Washington, D.C., Ottawa, and the Middle East for meetings with officials and she’s worked to bring the alleged international abduction of her four children to the attention of elected officials in Canada.

“I don’t know if they’re dead or alive. If they’re alive, we’ve got to bring them to safety,” Azer said.

Azer boarded a plane for Erbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, last month to search for her children after confirming her kids had been taken into northern Iraq, the same region where ongoing conflicts with Islamic State fighters have forced thousands of people to flee.

While meeting with Bayan Rahman, the Kurdistan Regional Government Representative to the United States, in mid-September in Washington, D.C., Azer was informed that airport records showed her children landed at the Sulaymaniyah airport in northern Iraq on Aug. 15.

“Once I had confirmation from Washington that the children had, as I terribly feared they had, been taken into northern Iraq, I set out to go there myself,” said Azer, who returned from a week-long trip to the Middle East late last month.

While overseas, Azer met with government officials in Iraqi Kurdistan, who assured her they would do everything they could to locate her missing children but offered her few details.

“I’ve heard nothing directly of the status of their investigation except that there are complicating issues on the ground, which is as vague as it is frustrating and as frustrating as it is terrifying,” she said.

“These are four young children who speak only English, who are so unfamiliar with wherever they’ve been taken in that part of the world.”

Alison Azer

Closer to home, Canadian officials have said investigators are working hard to locate the children.

In an e-mail, RCMP spokesman Cpl. Darren Lagan said Tuesday the investigation into the missing Azer kids is ongoing and because it’s an active investigation, additional details can’t be provided.

“We are actively working on this case, both locally in the Comox Valley, and through our international liaison work at our National Headquarters in Ottawa,” Lagan stated.

In an e-mailed statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada said the Government of Canada is “aware of the abduction of the four Canadian children” and Canadian consular officials are working closely with authorities in Canada and abroad.

“Government of Canada senior officials are in regular contact with the children’s mother and remain deeply concerned for the safety and well-being of the children,” the statement said.

As she works around the clock to find her missing children and raise awareness about their alleged abduction, Azer said she doesn’t know what more she can do.

“I don’t know what it will take. I don’t know if it takes me going back (to northern Iraq)…to walk the streets of Sulaymaniyah with their pictures begging people to let their mom know where her children are,” an emotional Azer said.

“I’m desperate. I will do anything to find my children.”

Azer and her former husband separated in December 2012 and Azer said the couple reached a parenting arrangement in April 2014 that saw the children spend eight days with their mom and six with their father in a two-week period.

The missing children’s father has spoken publicly about volunteering medical care to refugees in the Middle East and he appeared in March in a promotional video with Stephen Harper, speaking about the importance of fighting ISIL.

“The atrocities that are unfolding in that part of the world are beyond anybody’s imagination. The Kurdish community of Canada whole heartedly supports the presence of the Canadian Forces in Iraq,” Saren Azer said in the video.

Azer said her former husband has family in the Middle East and she believes someone, somewhere, knows where her children are.

“There are people out there who know, and I just beg of them, just let me know what you need, let me know what it would take … I will sell everything I have, just let me know what I need to do,” she said.

“(Who) takes four Canadian children away from safety, health care, education, community, friends, family and brings them into an area of active conflict? These children must be found and they must be returned to Canada.”

Anyone with information about the missing Azer children is urged to visit www.findazerkidsnow.com.

U.S – Teen Arrested for Planning Alleged IS-Inspired Attack on Pope

September 16, 2015

Source: abcnews

The FBI quietly arrested a 15-year-old boy outside of Philadelphia last month for allegedly threatening to launch an IS-inspired assault on Pope Francis while the world leader tours the United States next week, ABC News has learned.

Pope Francis

The case, like so many others in recent months, highlights just how effective ISIS has become in using social media to radicalize Americans, particularly children.

“The minor was inspired by [IS] and sought to conduct a detailed homeland attack which included multiple attackers, firearms, and multiple explosives, targeting a foreign dignitary at a high-profile event,” according to a joint intelligence bulletin by the FBI and Department of Homeland Security issued to law enforcement across the country on Aug 14.

The “foreign dignitary” mentioned in that bulletin is the Pope, who will finish his U.S. trip with two days of events in Philadelphia, sources told ABC News. In fact, the case is what the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, Mike McCaul, was likely referring to Sunday when he disclosed that U.S. authorities “have disrupted one particular case” involving threats to attack the Pope, sources said.

“The minor obtained explosives instructions and further disseminated these instructions through social media,” according to the joint intelligence bulletin.

The boy has been charged with attempting to provide material support to a terrorist organization and attempting to provide material support to terrorist activity, the bulletin added.

isis- IS Islamic State

But sources familiar with the case emphasized that any threat from him was not imminent, and that the boy’s plans were “aspirational.” Additionally, the sources said, there are questions about the boy’s mental health.

In addition, despite repeated threats from ISIS and other groups to target the Pope and the Vatican more broadly over the past year, there is no specific, credible threat to the Pope during his visit to the United States next week, law enforcement officials said Monday.

“The FBI is working closely with the United States Secret Service and our federal, state and local partners in advance of the papal visit to ensure the safety and security of all,” a spokeswoman for the FBI’s field office in Philadelphia said in a statement. She would not comment on any specific cases or threats.

Meanwhile, the FBI-DHS intelligence bulletin noted that “several recent instances” –- including the case now tied to the Pope’s upcoming visit -– “demonstrate some youth are vulnerable to messaging from [ISIS] and its supporters.”

Their “innovative use of social media and messaging has played a key role in motivating young U.S.-based males and females to travel to join the self-declared Islamic State or allegedly attempt to conduct attacks in the Homeland on behalf of” ISIS, the bulletin said.

“These incidents also show that some U.S.-based youth are willing to connect over social media with like-minded persons, and have proven adept at obfuscating such social media usage from their parents and guardians,” the bulletin added.

ISIS threatens to send 500,000 migrants to Europe as a ‘psychological weapon’

September 10, 2015

Italian press today published claims that ISIS has threatened to release the huge wave of migrants to cause chaos in Europe if they are attacked.

Lampedusa Italy

Breaking point: The officials at Lampedusa airport (pictured) are struggling to process the 1,200 newly arrived migrants in a reception centre built for a third of that number – and now Islamic State has threatened to send 500,000 to Europe’s shores

And letters from jihadists show plans to hide terrorists among refugees

In 2011, Muammar Gaddafi ominously predicted war would come to Libya

He was deposed in a violent coup and killed in October of the same year

Islamic State executed 21 Egyptian Christians on Libyan beach this week

Crisis in Libya has led to surge in number of migrants heading for Europe

ISIS has threatened to flood Europe with half a million migrants from Libya in a ‘psychological’ attack against the West, it was claimed today.

Transcripts of telephone intercepts published in Italy claim to provide evidence that ISIS is threatening to send 500,000 migrants simultaneously out to sea in hundreds of boats in a ‘psychological weapon’ against Europe if there is military intervention against them in Libya.

Many would be at risk of drowning with rescue services unable to cope. But authorities fear that if numbers on this scale arrived, European cities could witness riots.

Separately, the militants hope to cement their control of Libya then cross the Mediterranean disguised as refugees, according to letters seen by Quilliam the anti-terror group, reported by the Telegraph.

Searching for safety: With militancy and violence spreading through Libya, many Egyptians living there are now returning to their home country (pictured on the border village Sallum)

Italian Minister for the Interior Angelino Alfano said on Monday that Libya was the ‘absolute priority’ and insisted there was ‘not a minute to lose’ for the international community.

He said: ‘If the militias of the Caliphate advance faster than the decisions of the international community how can we put out the fire in Libya and stem the migration flows? We are at risk of an exodus without precedent.’

More than 170,000 migrants arrived in Italy by boat last year. Since last Friday almost 4,000 have been rescued.

The spread of militancy across Libya was predicted by the country’s deceased leader Muammar Gaddafi, who warned the Mediterranean would become ‘a sea of chaos’.

ISIS had not yet made frightening inroads into Libya when he made this chilling prophecy during his last interview in March 2011.

Screen Shot 2015-09-10 at 09.36.40

Escape: Today, the spread of violence and extremism in Libya has forced thousands to flee to Italy (ferry port of Lampedusa pictured) where officials are struggling to deal with the sudden influx

But the Arab Spring uprising that year sparked a civil war in Libya and opposition forces – backed by NATO – deposed Gaddafi in violent coup just five months after his ominous prediction.

In October 2011, forces loyal to the country’s transitional government found the ousted leader hiding in a culvert in Sirte and killed him.

Four years later, Islamic State kidnapped 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians in Sirte – Gaddafi’s birthplace – before releasing gruesome footage of their beheading on the shores of the Mediterranean, just 220 miles south of Italy. In it the terrorists warned that they ‘will conquer Rome’.

Mother who was feared to have fled Britain to join ISIS in Syria is charged with child abduction

September 5, 2015

  • Woman in court accused of planning to travel to Syria with her children
  • On Tuesday Turkish authorities had detained the family-of-five
  • Refused to stand in the dock, telling judge ‘it’s part of my religion’
  • Remanded into custody to appear at Southwark Crown Court

A woman who allegedly planned to travel to Syria with her four children has refused to stand before a judge as she appeared in court charged with child abduction.

Zahera Tariq

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was detained in Turkey on Tuesday after the family went missing from their home in north-east London last week.

She appeared at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court in London today, where she indicated she would plead not guilty and refused to stand in the dock before District Judge Susan Green.

The defendant told the judge: ‘I’m sorry, it’s part of my religion, so I would prefer to sit down.’

Judge Green responded: ‘I’m not going to argue. Get on with the case.’

The defendant’s father broke down in tears in the public gallery as his daughter was remanded in custody to appear at Southwark Crown Court on September 21.

The woman’s husband, two sisters and her cousin were also sitting in the public gallery.

Brits in Costa Del Sol, Costa Brava and Costa Blanca now ‘top targets for ISIS attack’

September 1, 2015

Source: Dailystar.co.uk

SPANISH beaches packed full of holidaying Brits could be the next target for an Islamic State attack, a security expert has warned.

Terror Spain Tourists

The Costa Brava, Costa Blanca and Costa Del Sol have been highlighted as key threat areas with fears of a Tunisia-style atrocity being repeated in Spain.

The Daily Star Online revealed earlier this week how UK tourists are being labeled as “high value” targets by ISIS extremists.

In a chilling warning, Spain’s interior minister said counter-terror chiefs were working “day and night” to thwart any attacks.

And a top counter-terrorism chief has now singled out the popular Spanish coastline as an area Islamist killers have in their sights.

Will Geddes, head of global security firm International Corporate Protection, says Spanish authorities have ramped up armed patrols near holiday hotspots with fears of a “Sousse-like” attack from the sea.

He told us: “The framework and method for ISIS attacks would lead them to potentially attack tourist resorts as seen recently in Tunisia.

“So the likes of Costa Brava, Costa Blanca and Costa Del Sol are at risk.”

Tourists-terrorism-Spain-Islamic-State

Beaches rammed full of Brits near the likes of Barcelona, Alicante and Malaga are thought to be most at risk.

While busy major city centres such as the capital Madrid and Valencia are also thought to be likely targets for a mass-casualty attack.

Mr Geddes added: “My sources say authorities are raising the presence of Guarda (civil guards) and police to protect tourists from any possible plots and provide an increased presence for reassurance.

“They are keeping watchful eyes on any historically attacked locations, such as train stations, bus terminals, government buildings as well as areas with large amounts of people and especially tourists.

“The increasing security presence in tourist regions will be to prevent Spain falling foul to a Sousse-like attack.”

His comments come after Spain raised its security level to the highest since the 2004 Madrid bombings which killed 191 people.

The Spanish interior minister has said police were doing everything they could to ensure the safety of the people.

Jorge Fernández Díaz tweeted: “Guardia civil policia will work day and night to minimise the terrorist alert”

Over 12 million Brits travel to Spain every year.

Many own holiday homes in the likes of Benidorm, Marbella and Fuengirola.

While others escape the UK for a holiday to the Spanish coast – known for its sun, sea, sangria and sand.

But Mr Geddes explained Spain has somewhat surprisingly been battling terrror for a number of years despite it not being widely reported in the UK.

He said: “The country raised its security level a month ago, the highest (Level 4 of 5) since the 2004 Madrid Bombings, as a result of an increase in intelligence chatter about ISIS.

“So far it is estimated around 120 Spanish people have fled to join ISIS.”

And the security source explained that it is not just Spain at threat of a large-scale attack.

“Virtually every country across Europe has been affected by the rise of ISIS,” he said.

“Both in terms of nationals travelling to Syria and Iraq as well as domestic radicalisation.

“This includes countries you wouldn’t generally think have people joining the terror regime – such as in Finland, Belgium and Sweden.

“It is a global virus.”

Tunisia Terror

Yesterday the Foreign Office urged Brits in Tunisia to fly home immediately following last month’s Tunisia terror attack, which saw 30 Brits shot dead on a popular tourist beach in Sousse.

It has warned against all but essential travel to the North African country as 3,000 Brit tourists and Thomson and First Choice reps are urgently flown out of Tunisia amid fears another attack is now imminent.

In their Spanish advice statement, the Foreign Office said: “There is a high threat from terrorism.

“Attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places visited by foreigners.

“There is considered to be a heightened threat of terrorist attack globally against UK interests and British nationals, from groups or individuals motivated by the conflict in Iraq and Syria.

“You should be vigilant at this time.”

A ten point safety plan has been released telling Brits to stay vigilant for terror attacks before jetting off on holiday.

The advice ranges from checking local news sources to making yourself aware of safe locations in the area.

NSA Data Shows Islamic State Plans Series of Terror Attacks in Europe

January 11 , 2015

According to recorded phone conversations of IS leaders, Europe should be expecting a wave of terror and the events in France are only the beginning.

ISIS IS

According to US National Security Agency (NSA) data, the recent events in France are only the beginning of Islamic State (IS) radical organization’s planned series of terrorist attacks in Europe, Bild am Sonntag reported Sunday.

A few months ago, NSA staff was able to tap phone conversations of IS leaders, of which it became known that Europe should be expecting a wave of terror and the events in France were only the beginning.

Eight Charlie Hebdo cartoonists were murdered Wednesday by Islamist terrorists Cherif and Said Kouachi, who also killed police officers outside the magazine’s office.

Je Suis Charlie Paris Hedbo

Another attacker, Amedy Coulibaly, who is believed to have had links to the brothers, killed four hostages in a supermarket in eastern Paris on Friday. He is also reported to be behind the murder of a policewoman that took place in southern Paris on Thursday.

There is no specific information about the plans of the Islamic State, but the recorded conversations mentioned Rome, the newspaper said.

Earlier in January, the head of the British intelligence agency MI5 Andrew Parker said that al-Qaeda is planning attacks on Western countries. According to him, in particular, the terrorist group is preparing attacks on transport infrastructure and landmarks, and the terrorist attacks in the United Kingdom could occur with high probability. Parker added that the Islamic State is also planning attacks in the country.

Islamic State (IS), also known as Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), has taken over large portions of Iraq and neighboring Syria and proclaimed a caliphate on the territories under its control.

Terror in Paris – 12 people shot dead at French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo

January 7

Source: BBC and CNN

Journalists and police officers are among 12 people shot dead at French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, which three years ago controversially published cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed.

Terror in Paris IS

At least 12 people were killed in Wednesday’s attack on a satirical magazine, Charlie Hebdo, in Paris, regional official Jean-Paul Huchon said.

The gunmen “will be chased as long as necessary, so that they can be stopped and be brought before judges,” French President Francois Hollande said.

Earlier, the President said, “This is a terrorist attack, there is no doubt about this.”

[Latest update at 7:58 a.m. ET]

• Four people wounded in the attack are in critical condition, Hollande said.

 • The President is calling an emergency Cabinet ministers’ meeting, set for 8 a.m. ET Wednesday (2 p.m. local time), at the Elysee Palace.

• Journalists and policemen are among the victims in the attack, said the French President, who added at least four were seriously wounded. He said it would be a few hours before a definite number of injured is known.

• British Prime Minister David Cameron reacted to the deadly shooting, saying on Twitter: “The murders in Paris are sickening. We stand with the French people in the fight against terror and defending the freedom of the press.”

[Original story posted at 7:05 a.m. ET]

Two heavily armed men entered the Charlie Hebdo office in Paris’ 11th district and opened fire, SPG police union spokesman Luc Poignant told CNN affiliate BFMTV.

He said the attack, close to Place de la Bastille, at least three police officers were injured. The Paris mayor’s office said at least six people were wounded, according to BFMTV.

The French government raised the country’s security alert system to its highest level Wednesday after the attack, according to French media.

Hollande and other senior government officials were due to arrive at the scene of the shooting, BFMTV said.

A witness who works in the office opposite the magazine’s told BFMTV that he saw two hooded men, dressed in black, enter the building with Kalashnikov submachine guns.

“We then heard them open fire inside, with many shots,” he told the channel. “We were all evacuated to the roof. After several minutes, the men fled, after having continued firing in the middle of the street.”

Witnesses also spoke of seeing a rocket launcher, according to French media reports.

There has been no claim of responsibility.

The satirical magazine is no stranger to controversy for having lampooned a variety of subjects, including Christianity. But what it’s done on Islam has gotten the most attention and garnered the most vitriol.

Its last tweet before Wednesday’s attack featured a cartoon of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and the words, “And, above all, health.”

US journalist murdered after exposing Turkey’s support for the Islamic State ( IS )

October 26 , 2014

Source: pamelageller.com

Obama said Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan was his “most trusted” “favorite” ally on the world stage. And where did that get us? Not only is Erdogan supporting the Islamic State – but his party is killing American journalists who expose it.

Serena Shim

With Obama at the helm, Americans are fair game. It’s open season. And just as I predicted in my 2010 book, The Post-American Presidency: The Obama Administration’s War on America, Obama endeavoured (and succeeded in  dismantling American hegemony across the world. We have lost our power, influence and prestige — and instead left an enormous vacuum. Ayn Rand said, “the spread of evil is the symptom of a vacuum. Whenever evil wins, it is only by default: by the moral failure of those who evade the fact that there can be no compromise on basic principles.”

Indeed. That is why the world is spinning out of control.

Obama has made no comment on this execution. No, “if I had a daughter who was a journalist ……” remarks from the evil clown.

“Suspicion hangs over death of U.S. journalist in Turkey
Threatened days before car crash for her reporting on ISIS,” By E Michael Maloof, WND, October 26, 2014:

WASHINGTON – The death of an American journalist who worked in the Middle East has come under suspicion because she had claimed days before her death that the Turkish intelligence services had threatened her over her coverage of the siege of the Syrian city of Kobani.

Serena Shim, an American citizen of Lebanese origin, was a journalist for Iran’s state-owned Press TV. She was killed in a car crash in the city of Suruc after she reportedly collided with a “heavy vehicle.”

She was in a rental car returning from her assignment when the crash occurred. Neither the “heavy vehicle” nor its driver has been located, although her driver reportedly was arrested.

Just days before her death, she had expressed concerns to colleagues and later on camera that she could be arrested by Turkish officials over her reporting. She disclosed that ISIS jihadists were being smuggled into Turkey and back into Syria in the back of humanitarian aid vehicles.

Suruc was located near the Turkish-Syrian border where most of the international media are assembled to cover the Kobani siege by ISIS.

“She was a wonderful young lady from Tennessee working as a reporter for Press TV in southern Turkey,” Franklin Lamb, an international lawyer and friend of Shim, told WND.

“She was preparing to return to the United States and to her mother,” he said. “She was a lovely young woman, smart, funny, hardworking, very American, open, optimistic. She wanted to help the world and alleviate struggle,” said Lamb.

A statement from Press TV said that Shim leaves behind two children, Ali, age 4, and Ajmal, 2.

“The tragic death of Serena Shim has left pain and sorrow in our hearts,” the statement said. “Her family is calling on the Turkish government to provide answers over the circumstance leading to her death.

“Just a couple of days ago she had been threatened by Turkish intelligence,” Press TV stated.

A few days prior to her death, Shim had spoken on camera of her fears of being arrested. She claimed Turkish intelligence agents had accused her of spying after her report of the alleged smuggling of ISIS militants.

“I’m very surprised at this accusation – I even thought of approaching Turkish intelligence because I have nothing to hide,” Shim said in the broadcast a day before she was killed.

“I am a bit worried, because … Turkey has been labeled by Reporters Without Borders as the largest prison for journalists … so I am frightened about what they might use against me,” she said.

Shim said that she had received images from Islamic jihadists crossing the Turkish border and was one of the few reporters covering the development.

“We were some of the first people on the ground – if not the first people – to get that story of … militants going in through the Turkish border. … I’ve got images of them in World Food Organization trucks. It was very apparent that they were militants by their beards, by the clothes they wore, and they were going in there with NGO trucks,” she said.

As WND has reported, Turkey has been aiding ISIS and has refused to join the U.S.-led coalition against the brutal jihadist army, which has committed atrocities such as beheadings in its takeover of large portions of northern Syria and western and central Iraq.

Informed sources tell WND that Turkey continues to keep open its borders to allow jihadists seeking to join ISIS to cross into Syria. Many of the fighters are from Europe and the United States.

Turkey has been a major gathering point for fighters throughout the world to obtain training and logistical support to join various jihadist groups and the Syrian opposition fighting Shiite-Alawite Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Turkey has made clear that its first priority isn’t the elimination of ISIS but to overthrow Assad.

The Turks believe the coalition against ISIS not only will bestow new legitimacy on Assad but will empower the outlawed Kurdish Workers’ Party, or PKK, as part of the coalition.

The PKK historically has sought a portion of Turkey, northeastern Syria, northern Iraq and northwestern Iraq to form the independent country of Kurdistan.

There are some unconfirmed reports that Turkey has been providing weapons to ISIS to fight the Kurds. One report said that a train from Turkey had carried ammunition and weapons to ISIS to besiege the city of Kobane. However, Ankara hasn’t denied such a claim.

In view of Ankara’s continued war with the PKK, Cemil Bayik, a top PKK commander, said the Turkish government has “eliminated” conditions of a mutually observed 18-month cease-fire. As a consequence, it would “step up its struggle in every area and by all possible means.”

If that were to occur, Ankara could look to ISIS to help eliminate its PKK problem.

“What has emerged is that Turkey is continuing its relations with Daesh and that Turkey will not solve the Kurdish problem in the north,” Bayik told Al-Monitor in an interview.

Daesh is the acronym for ISIS in Arabic.

Bayik said a Turkey “that supports Daesh’s attacks against Kobani, that seeks to depopulate Kobani and lobbies for the establishment of a buffer zone cannot sever its ties with Daesh.”

“Because if it did so, Daesh would expose all of Turkey’s dirty laundry, and document the links between them,” he explained.
