US Government Source Announces Plan to Resolve Japan Child Abduction Cases will be forthcoming

According to US Government Officials it is expected that State Department officials will announce their plan for resolving existing abduction cases in the wake of Japan’s recent declaration that it will sign the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction.

Presiding over the meeting from the State Department will be Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Kurt Campbell,

Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs Janice Jacobs, and Special Advisor for Children’s Issues Ambassador Susan Jacobs. Attendance by the Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation and the White House is also expected at the meeting.

Parents and relatives of children abducted to Japan are flying in from throughout the country for this meeting and announcement.  Audio links are also being established for parents on the West Coast and Japan, and for soldiers in Afghanistan affected by this tragedy.  Parents will be available immediately following the meeting to speak to the press.
